Coffee Tips
1. Fresh is Best.
Use fresh coffee.
For best result, grind your Coffee DeCafe Coffee beans right before you
brew. If you're not the kind to grind, Coffee DeCafe Ground Coffee is the next
best thing. Our coffee is bagged when it is still warm from roasting, and our
one-way Freshness Valve locks in all that great flavor.
2. Grinding makes a big difference.
Grinding beans more finely will result in stronger coffee.
The longer the grinds stay in contact with water, the coarser they should be.
Auto-drip coffee makers work best with a medium grind; espresso makers work
better with finely ground coffee; and French-press coffee makers need coarsely
ground beans.
3. Measure to Taste.
Start with 1 rounded tablespoon of ground coffee per six
ounces of water, and adjust to taste.
4. Use good tasting water.
Use cold, fresh water for best flavor. If you don't like the
taste of your tap water, then use filtered or bottled water instead.
5. Store correctly, or throw away.
Keep your unused coffee beans or grounds fresh by rolling the
top of the bag down or transferring to an opaque, airtight container. Store
your coffee in a cool, dry place. Avoid freezing because this can break down
the flavorful oils in the beans, and also cause condensation, which makes
coffee go stale faster.
6. Clean the coffee pot for great taste.
Cleaning the coffee pot after each use is key, but most
coffee makers will also periodically need a more thorough cleaning to keep your
brew tasting its freshest. Be sure
to read and follow the cleaning direction that came with your coffee maker and
grinder.
What is the best way to brew coffee?
To get the best flavor:
1. Try a French Press or press pot. This is a very simple method of making
coffee and many would argue that for flavor this is the best brew...
2. Try a vacuum coffee maker. These are fun to watch, in
addition to having a well-deserved reputation for making wonderful coffee.
3. Try a drip grind machine. Many people prefer this method,
and many claim that the flavor is great.
If you are not that discriminating a drip grind has many advantages over
the French Press and the Vacuum Coffee makers. I know a lot of people that use
drip grind for their everyday coffee and use French Press and/or the Vacuum
Coffee makers for special occasions. Even some very inexpensive drip grind
machines can produce a very good cup, but I wouldn't argue that it is the best
method for a perfect cup.
